The Puppeteer tells of a street performer who lives in his car with his daughter and wants to enroll her in school. Finally, Seamstress tells of an underpaid worker who learns that her daughter needs money for an operation, and a confrontation ensues with her bosses. THE CITY is a tough, intense film in the tradition of such neo-realist masterpieces as THE BICYCLE THIEF, showing the everyday, human struggles of people on the bottom rungs of society.
